Langford British Columbia is located on Vancouver Island just a few miles from Downtown Victoria.
It is one of the 13 component municipalities of the greater Victoria area and is home to about 42,000 residents. It’s only been incorporated since 1992 but it boasts a long history of European settlement dating back to 1851.
Over the last 15 years, Langford has been the fastest growing little city on Vancouver Island and features big retail stores, residential developments, and the expansion of the suburban town. Langford has been attractive to many people from all over the greater Victoria, lower mainland, and even Alberta due to new housing developments and a strong real estate market. Our temperate climate makes it perfect for year-round comfortability and because there are so many lakes in our area perfect for fishing, swimming, and boating, Langford makes the perfect destination for nature enthusiasts and those that enjoy the outdoors.
Cyclists enjoy the picturesque Galloping Goose Trail, formally a railway line, that moves through urban and rural parts of Langford and is used as a commuter trail to downtown Victoria just 45 minutes by bicycle.
Within Langford are several smaller neighborhoods including Goldstream Village, West Hills, Happy Valley, Olympic view, Atkins, Florence Lake, and Bear Mountain. Each of these neighborhoods has their own real estate development and residential communities with home starting at about $650,000 to $3,000,000.
Schools and Surrounding Area
Langford is part of the School District 62 Sooke educating over 10,000 students and 10 of the 25 schools in the district are located in Langford including one middle school and one high school. In 2015, two new state-of-the-art high schools were built to replace the 65-year-old Belmont high school. Langford is always evolving and with year-round festivals, events, activities, and an active social calendar, residents and visitors alike will find something fun to do nearly every day of the year in Langford.
